Spring 2024 classes

Charleston course

The Charleston is a dance with many forms. It originated in the 1920’s and its name derived from the town Charleston in South Carolina. Similarly to Lindy Hop, it has its origins in African-American culture. Versions that are dance are the 20’s Charleston, the 30’s Charleston and of course solo Charleston. We consider these dances part of the swing dances and they can be mixed with Lindy hop. We wil cover the basic rhythms, 20’s and 30’s styles, some figures and variations and perhaps some solo moves. This course is intended for dancers that did our beginner course and those that did the lindy 2 course. If you were not part of these courses and you have some dancing experience, or dancers that did level 3, and you still want to join, please send us an email and we will let you kniow when there are spots left.

We rotate partners in class – this means you also can join the class if you don’t have a dance partner. To increase your chance of getting a spot in class you can register as ambi (either lead or follow).

Solo Jazz

This will run over 8-weeks starting on Tuesday April 30th, 2024 at 19.15 at Fanfare Sint Servatius (Sint Theresiaplein 18) to help you level up your solo jazz! We encourage you to take this course if you want to improve your body awareness, rhythmical skills and improve your dancing in general. We content of the class will be revealed along the way, you will learn basic jazz moves, and perhaps soms improvisation and routines.

Are you ready for a challenge? This class is open for any level. We will keep you busy though, and the tempo will be quick.

We will have a moment to have a social dance and practice the moves you learned after class. This will be from 20.15 till 20.45, before the next class starts. Participants of the next class are also encouraged to join. Besides classes on Tuesdays, we have our regular social dance on Wednesdays from 20.30-22.30.

Lindy Hop 3

Follow up to the last level 3 course – advance your swing dancing in 8 weeks!  
This course is designed for people who have a solid basis of swing dancing, including 6- & 8-count, Lindy circle and you are comfortable with the Swing-out and charleston. If you have taken at least a year of classes before and you have been social dancing regularly, this course is for you! We will work on technique, rhythmical variations and musicality, among other things.
We rotate partners in class – this means you also can join the class if you don’t have a dance partner.  

We will have a moment to have a social dance and practice the moves you learned before class. This will be from 20.15 till 20.45. Participants of the previous class are also encouraged to join. Besides classes on Tuesdays, we have our regular social dance on Wednesdays from 20.30-22.30.

Social Dance

Every Wednesday after the beginners class there will be a social dance. No pre-registration is needed.
